SU College of Law and Salonga Center welcome Dr. Jay Batongbacal

Dr. Batongbacal delivered a special lecture entitled “Chinese Historical Claims to the South China Sea: Maps and Musings” during the 37th Annual Conference of the Ugnayang Pang-Aghamtao (UGAT) and 7th National Conference of the Philippine Geographical Society (PGS) hosted by Silliman University.
Dr. Batongbacal is an assistant professor at the University of the Philippines College of Law and director of the University of the Philippines Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of the Sea. He is on leave and affiliated with the East West Center in Washington as a U.S.-ASEAN Fulbright Initiative Visiting Scholar doing research on evolving US maritime security policies and their impact on the resort to international arbitration and the Rule of Law in the South China Sea disputes.
